One of strategic focus areas is deep-water oil and gas production for higher-margin and lower-carbon barrels delivery. Deepwater development requires exploration and extraction of oil and natural gas from deposits beneath the ocean floor at significant depths, characteristically over 200 metres.

The deep-water era in the Gulf of Guinea began more than 30 years ago, after a team of engineers, scientists, and explorers in the early 1990s reimagined the possibilities for offshore oil and gas production in the region. Following the earlier discoveries, Schlau Energy intends to extend investement portfolio by leveraging remarkable technological solutions to excel in the design, construction and operation of world-class oil and gas assets in varying water depths along the Gulf of Guinea.

Innovation in Deep-Water Assets

Schlau Energy holds strategic interest in deep-water oil and gas business. We deploy simplified designs for reduced development costs and quicker returns. Utilizing state-of-the-art drilling techniques, we can assess deep-water reservoirs safely and efficiently. Due to the nature of deep-water operating environment, we deploy remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and advanced subsea systems allows us operate with required precision and precaution.

Strategy to Decarbonize deep-water operations

We will pre-emptively manage the greenhouse gas intensity of our deep-water operations through innovative project designs, efficient operations, and strategic management of aging assets. Our strategy is to achieve a 30% reduction in methane emissions in the first five years and realize a stepwise reduction thereafter. Moreover, we collaborate with local universities and research centres on greenhouse gas intensity reduction in oil and gas exploitation.

Our strategy is to support the support in meeting the supply gap from a diverse network of customers around the world. We are collaborating with investors, shipping and storage assets owners, and regasification plants globally.

Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas cooled to a liquid state at temperature of about -162°C (-260°F). Consequently, the gas volume is reduced by around 600 times, making it easier and safer for storage and transportation.

Gas to liquids (GTLs)

We are investing in gas-to-liquids projects designed to turn natural gas into excellent quality liquid fuels, base oils, and other liquid derivatives from oil. Our investment in R&D, with other collaborative efforts are beginning to provide insights on more cost effective GTL technologies and commercial business model.

Conventionally, GTL products are colourless and odourless due to absence of impurities like sulphur, aromatics and nitrogen which are present in crude oil. The significant economic value of GTL production can help natural gas-rich regions to jump-start their economies as the global demand for liquid products contnues to grow.
