Energy and Access

Schlau as an energy company is committed to providing cleaner, reliable energy to the global population who do not presently have access to energy today.

Recent estimates show that about 675 million people do not have access to electricity and about 2.3 billion people lack access to clean cooking facilities. In support of the United Nation Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), we are committed to supplying cleaner, reliable energy to cure the existing deficit and additional supply to meet growing demand.

Schlau Energy is working to improve the reliability of electricity supply to consumers in Africa. We are focused on supply for residential, commercial and industrial customers with existing electricity connections as well as by enabling first time access to power for customers and communities without existing infrastructure. Our Social Investment units develop market-based programmes that provide access to clean and affordable energy for some of Africa’s most remote and susceptible settlements.

Access to energy in communities

The concept of universal energy access by 2030 will require a mix of commercial investment and community programmes tailored to those who cannot access or afford energy solutions without support.

In collaboration with communities and partner organisations, Schlau Energy’s Social Investment teams initiated market-based programmes that will provide access to clean and affordable energy for some of Africa’s most remote and susceptible settlements.

Historically, robust energy access programmes do not only provide electricity, they unlock profound social impact with astonishing outcomes. Schlau Energy will join forces with other organizations and work together to achieve universal energy access by 2030.
